Glossop is a market town in the High Peak borough in Derbyshire. It lies on the Glossop Brook, which is a tributary of the River Etherow and is about 15 miles east of Manchester.

Ever wanted to ride a horse? Try the equestrian centre (<3 miles)
On pony days you can spend the day learning to look after their ponies and have fun with your riding. We do strongly suggest you contact Hargate Hill Equestrian Centre before you set off on your family day out, just to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices, you dont want to have to drive back disapointed.

The local leisure centre (<1 mile)
The leisure centre is just down the road and offers a gym and other recreational activities.
There are 3 slides, a ball pool, ball juggler and ball shower, a small football area, cannon and rope bridges.
There is a separate padded toddler area with baby ball pool, keeping toddlers out of harms way.
They have created a new Baby Room with play tunnel, enclosed ball pool, baby lay-play mats and books that are aimed at under 3s. There's also a story time corner which has a range of books for all ages to choose from. Comfy seating is also a plus. The prices for taking them in here is very small.

This historic building has one of the largest water fountains powered by pressure. The emperor fountain has water that drops 122m through a 40cm iron pipe to create a 60 metre jet firing into the air.

Many a great day out can be planned from this website. There are visitor centres, bike hires and great walks planned that you can take a look at.
